Do you remember Mary Magdalene? When she realized that the One standing before her was Christ, “Rabboni,” she said, “my Teacher,” and she went to touch His garment, His very body.
Do you remember the woman with the issue of blood? While such a great crowd was pressing upon Christ, she approached Him to touch Him with faith and reverence.
Do you remember Thomas? He placed his hands into the wounds and cried out, “My Lord and my God.”
This is what we also do at the time of the Divine Liturgy. And yet we ask, “Where is Christ?” There He is! He is before us, He is with us, He is beside us. “The Teacher is here and is calling for you,” they had said to Mary who was weeping for her dead brother Lazarus.
In the Divine Liturgy, Christ is present and calls each one of us by name. Those who perceive this have eyes that sparkle like flames and live in the joy of Christ. All things are filled with joy. All things are filled with light. All things glorify Christ.
