On Friday, May 8, 2026, His Eminence Metropolitan Timotheos visited the Holy Monastery of Petra Katafygiou, dedicated to the Dormition of the Theotokos, in order to conduct an on-site inspection assessing the preservation condition of the protected monastic monument and to examine matters related to its restoration and maintenance.
During the visit, special attention was given to the exterior masonry of the monastic complex, while the factors contributing to moisture accumulation and the deterioration of the stone structure were thoroughly investigated. At the same time, proposed technical solutions were discussed for the effective removal of moisture and rainwater, aiming at the protection and long-term preservation of the historic monastery.
