Spiritual love, perfect love, is acquired when we overcome all our passions. It is a fruit of the Holy Spirit and is distinguished into four categories:
a) Love for God, which is called knowledge of God (theognosia)
b) Love for ourselves, which is called self-knowledge (autognosia)
c) Love for our neighbor, which is called brotherly knowledge (adelphognosia)
d) Love for our enemy, which is called knowledge of love (agapognosia)
In order to acquire love for our fellow human beings, we must:
a) Have compassion and a forgiving spirit toward our neighbor, and
b) Always speak the truth to them and not lies.
